Chronology
Nate Busko has spent 12 of his 17 years running from his past. Fed up with being shuttled from foster home to foster home, he now lives in his car, eats corn husks, and uses running as a shower. By nightfall, he couldn’t be more different from the confident, cocky school persona. One is haunted by fragments of traumatic memories from his past. Enter Stan Deen, a popular high school drama teacher who is dealing with his own problems. He sees Nate’s hidden talent and need to care and mentor where no other teacher has, and decides to help. But in a shocking turn of events, Nate is arrested in the middle of school and marched away in handcuffs. Stan follows Nate to the police station and not only posts bail, but also agrees to take Nate into his own home, despite the raised eyebrows of his fellow teachers. Stan is willing to do whatever he can to help his troubled student. But the question is, can you really help someone if you’re not willing to help yourself?
